The Byscenen theatre in Trondheim has been installed with an Electro-Voice XLD compact line array system as part of the venue’s latest upgrade initiative. The new audio installation was carried out by avon a|s, who were required to accommodate the theatre’s diverse requirements regarding event type and configuration.

The eclectic nature of the theatre’s schedule is illustrated by the fact that performers in the last few weeks have included US country singer Jace Everett, psych-rock band The Savage Rose and ‘horror-punks’ the Misfits.

The sound system in the Byscenen now includes six EV XLD281, ten EV XLD291 and four EV XCS312 (subs) as well as four Xsubs, driven by ten EV TG7 amplifiers and controlled using IRISNet software.

Thomas Denstad, the Byscenen’s technical director, commented: “I love the versatility of the XLD. We have, for example, two flown subs per side. This means that for shows that do not require an immense amount of low-end pressure, I can dispense altogether with the Xsubs.”

Markus Schmittinger, Electro-Voice sales manager for Western Europe, told IE: “To be the sound system in an institution like the Byscenen is an honour that makes us incredibly proud. A venue with such a national meaning needs a sound system of [outstanding quality]. This great responsibility was perfectly fulfilled by our partners from avon a|s in Trondheim. Their accuracy and expertise yield very satisfying results, even when taking on the most challenging missions.”
