Wednesday morning of the Home Technology Event saw CEDIA introduce a seminar that targeted interior designers as part of its outreach plan to make other sectors in the residential market more aware of what its members can offer.
Designing Interiors with Technology, sponsored by Crestron and supported by the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID), aimed to serve the design community who want to find out how electronic systems can be successfully integrated into residential schemes.
The panel included Malcolm Stewart of Kensington Home Technology (pictured), Rhonda Dearsley of LairdKing and Diana Yakeley, president elect of the BIID.
“Using a CEDIA member for your audiovisual installation can play an important part in your necessary due diligence,” said Stewart. “We use trained engineers, have professional indemnity and public liability insurance and health and safety training. It will save you a lot of money in the long run.”
The sessions looked at subsystems and how to hide technology, how to use the technology to save and manage energy use and offered a case study of how a CEDIA member works with an interior designer.
CEDIA’s outreach committee has also introduced seminars aimed at mechanical and electrical engineers and contractors and architects. The final one, Wired for Technology, targeted at electricians, takes place today (Thurs, 10:00 am).
