Global product launches, important updates on existing technologies, major brands, an exciting 3D feature area and a packed programme of seminars, workshops and conference sessions all feature strongly during the four-day show which represents the most significant industry product showcase and training event of the year.

“The CEDIA Home Technology Event is the number one shop window for the residential custom installation industry,” said show manager and CEDIA Region 1 operations director Matt Nimmons, pictured above. “We’re delighted that the rebranded show has sold out to exhibitors. It demonstrates that this is the place for installers across the Region to see the big brands, get close up with all the major technologies, take industry and product-specific training and build relationships with suppliers. We are also pleased to announce the return of the show to this same venue next year from 20-23 June 2011.”

Exhibitors at this year’s event are showcasing everything from high-end speakers, home cinema projectors, whole-home audio systems, plasma, LCD and 3D screens to audio and video media servers, HVAC control, lighting control systems and automated mechanisms for lifting plasmas and other devices. Also on display are high-end and designer speakers, security control products, audio and video cabling, switching, and distribution systems, touch-screens, controllers, furniture and even an automated bath-filling system which can be activated and controlled by an iPhone.

A special 3D feature on the show floor, featuring a 4m acoustically transparent screen and 3D content provided by BSkyB and Blu-Ray 3D is set to bring this radical technology to life with an immersive experience for visitors.

The Home Technology Event also features a comprehensive education programme. This year’s show provides over 100 hours of quality training for delegates on and off the show floor, with CEDIA content supplemented by a substantial amount of free training courses provided by trade suppliers.

CEDIA has extended the reach of its outreach programme as it continues to build the profile and reputation of CEDIA and its members amongst design, architectural and specifier communities.

In 2010 CEDIA has developed and launched a brand new CPD (continuing professional development) course, increased education events targeting specific outreach audiences and is working closely with trade bodies in relevant professions.

The new CPD course, entitled ‘Using Technology to Manage Energy in the Home’, has been designed to meet growing interest from specifiers in energy efficiency issues and was showcased to an audience of architects at this year’s CEDIA Home Technology Event. CEDIA is encouraging its members to attend training which will allow them to present this course to architects nationwide in the months and years ahead.

The associations also revealed that the gala presentation night for next year’s CEDIA Awards will take place on Friday 8 April 2011.

Now in their sixth successful year, the CEDIA Awards celebrate excellence in the residential custom installation sector across Region 1. Following the introduction of new categories and more rigorous judging criteria, the CEDIA Awards 2010 set an impressive benchmark for high standards in the industry. The CEDIA Awards 2011 will aim to build on the success of the scheme which attracted more than 90 entries from 10 countries in the Region. The closing date for entries will be Friday 11 February 2011, with the black-tie awards ceremony following two months later on Friday 8 April at a location yet to be revealed.

“CEDIA is committed to raising standards across the Custom Installation industry in Region 1,” said CEDIA chair Robert Hallam. “The Awards demonstrate this commitment, providing both a credible, high-profile showcase for this excellence as well as substantial marketing and business benefits for those who participate and succeed.”
