Wednesday afternoon of the Home Technology Event saw CEDIA introduce a seminar that targeted architects as part of its outreach plan to make other sectors in the residential market more aware of what its members can offer.
Designing Integrated Future Ready Homes was supported by, among others,
Installation Europe's
Technology for Architects newsletter and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
Presented by Steve Moore of SMC, the session aimed to serve those within the architectural community that wish to find out how electronic systems can be successfully integrated into residential schemes.
The conference was effectively split into two sessions. First up was the Designing Integrated Future Ready Homes seminar, which is RIBA CPD-accredited. After a 3D cinema demonstration during the break, the second session was Using Technology to Manage Energy in the Home, which is CEDIA's latest RIBA-accredited advanced CPD offering.
"Interest in things like home cinema is rising," said Steve Moore. "Architects can offer clients flat panel displays that are niched into the wall. Remember that sound is an important part of the experience. Research from the States indicates that in two identical cinema installations, viewers thought that the picture was actually better in the one with the better sound installation."
CEDIA's outreach committee has also introduced seminars aimed at mechanical and electrical engineers and contractors, interior designers and electricians.
