Carlo Gavazzi UK used the show to preview a web server application enabling smart home automation systems to be managed, monitored and controlled anywhere in the world.
Running under the Windows CE operating system, the web server software will be integrated into the company's smart home controller. This allows any browser on the home Ethernet network to log securely into the controller and access the smart home system. All home automation variables such as temperature, light levels and curtain control can be viewed or adjusted.
The web server is particularly useful when accessed from outside the house, via a home network gateway such as ADSL or cable router. Formatted for standard browsers or mobile devices, the web application allows users to, for example, check that security systems are activated while they are away from the home.
Access to the system is available by entering a password into an internet browser, which is then encrypted before being sent to the server for validation. If a user attempts to access the system with a wrong password, the server sends an email to a user-defined email address, warning home owners that someone is trying to acces the system.
