The industry group set up to promote the advancement and adoption of the IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging (AVB) standards is holding a panel session at InfoComm 2011 on 15 June.

Subtitled ‘The Future of Standards-Based AV Networking’, the session will take place from 2.30 to 4pm in the room W221B of the Orange County convention centre. Following some background information on AVB standards, there will be a panel discussion on the future of AVB drawing on the input of leading manufacturers – namely, Analog Devices, Biamp, Barco and Extreme Networks – as well as integrator Jim Risgin from OSA International.

Marketing group chair of the AVnu Alliance and president of Lab X Technologies, Lee Minich (pictured), will the discuss membership benefits of the AVnu Alliance, as well as the organisation’s role in the wider industry.

InfoComm will also pay host to an AVnu Alliance pavilion (booth 383) featuring member companies Analog Devices, Avid, Broadcom, Extreme Networks, HARMAN, Lab X Technologies, Meyer Sound, UMAN and XMOS. InfoComm attendees are encouraged to visit the pavilion to see AVB-enabled products in action, and to learn more about Audio Video Bridging.

“While simple in application, AVB technology offers users a reliable, self-configuring network solution that protects low latency audio and video via this evolution of media-aware Ethernet,” stated Minich. “The Alliance hopes to shine the light on this game-changing technology. AVB is specifically designed for A/V networking to make the lives of manufacturers, integrators and end-users less stressful as they provide their customers continued excellent service. AVnu members will make it a priority during InfoComm to educate our colleagues on the advantages of AVB features and benefits to the A/V world.”
