Audio-Technica's ISE highlights

08 February 2010

The manufacturer unveiled a new-three channel boundary microphone, the U843R condenser mic (pictured), along with four fixtures recently added to its 40 Series and the ATCS-60 infrared conferencing system.

The latest addition to the Unipoint sound reinforcement series, the U843R is designed for surface-mount applications and is said to be ideal for audio- and video-conferencing. Three cardioid condenser elements are mounted in the U843R's housing, by default set with an angle of 120 degrees between them to give complete 360-degree coverage. For extra flexibility, two of the three elements may be reoriented to give angles of 90/90/180 degrees between elements - suited to positioning at the end of long conference tables, for example. Elements can also be powered and used individually, or in any combination.

In addition to the U843R, Audio-Technica also exhibited four microphones recently added to its 40 Series. The AT4080 and AT4081 are the company's first-ever ribbon mics, while the AT4050ST and AT4047MP are said to deliver stereo pickup and "vintage-style" tone, respectively.

Completing Audio-Technica's principal line-up at ISE was the ATCS-60 infrared conferencing system. Up to 150 delegates can be catered for in manual mode, while flexible routing and multi-channel operation can handle simultaneous interpretation involving one native and three foreign languages.
